Ran Ishii (石井蘭) was born on August 7, 2004 and is a former Girls2 member before her graduation in March 2023. Her representative color was red, while her Garugaku/Chuwapane color was yellow. She is currently a member of ME:I.
She shares her name and appearance with her anime version, Ran.
History
Ran was born in Saitama Prefecture to a family of five and has one older sister and little sister.[5]
She joined EXPG Omiya in 6th grade elementary school[6] in 2016, having been first seen in articles and images around that time.[7][8] She is usually seen during lessons with ITO.[9][10] After a while, Ran made another appearance in 2018,[11] where she is then discovered by fans at 2018 SUPER KIDS FESTA☆ after her appearance in Phantomirage.[12]
She was under LDH and is a graduate of EXPG Omiya, and was a student under EXPG High School until she graduated on March 31st, 2023.
Etymology
Ran (蘭) means "orchid".
Ishii (石井) uses the kanji 石 (Ishi; Stone) and 井 (I; Well).
Career
Secret x Heroine Phantomirage / Mirage2
Unlike the other 3 members, Ran became a member through regular auditions. She was then announced as a cast member for the 3rd season of the Girls x Heroine series "Secret x Heroine Phantomirage" as Seira Kureha in early 2019. The series began in April of that year which took off her career in acting.
Aside from being a part of the cast, she became a member of the idol unit they released through the series called "Mirage2". Activities with the group will last for a year.
Girls2
On July 7, 2019, it was announced that Ran would also become a member of the unit "Girls2" released from the Girls x Heroine series a combination unit between 'Miracle2', 'Magical2' and 'Mirage2' making them a 9 member group.
She made her debut with them on October 30, 2019, with the release of "Koisuru Kamo" which is Secret x Heroine Phantomirage's 2nd opening.
Announced through OhaSuta on March 27, 2020, she joined the Oha Suta cast as an Oha Girl. Starting on the week of April 6, 2020, she is the Thursday Oha Girl. She then graduated from OhaSuta on October 1st, 2021.
On February 7, 2023, it was announced that Ran is to graduate from Girls2 at the end of March and will not be participating in Girls2 Fan Meeting in April at all. She graduated on March 31, 2023 following her graduation from EXPG High School the day before.
Solo Activities
On February 9, 2021, it was announced that Ran would participate in EXPG "GRAND SHOWDOWN" (a competition where those who win will become the representative of their school) as part of EXPG High School.[13]
Re-Debut: ME:I
On September 2, 2023, she was revealed as a contestant on the survival show "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN: THE GIRLS"[14], which officially started broadcasting on October 5. In the first episode, she was peer ranked 62nd, and given an original grade of B during the first evaluation and was re-evaluated to grade A.
During the broadcast of the final episode, Ran was announced as a member of the debut group, ME:I, finishing in 9th place overall.
